- The Association of Professional Librarians Tokyo (APL) is an association of foreign
and Japanese librarians and related professionals that has been active in Tokyo for over 20 years.
- The Japan Board on Books for Young People
(JBBY) is the Japan chapter of the International
Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), a nonprofit organization for people committed to bringing books and children together.
- Paper Tigers is a site for all those
interested in young readers’ books from and about the Pacific Rim and Asia. If you publish a book in English set in Asia,
send them the information!
- Kamishibai for Kids introduces the
Japanese picture-card story form called kamishibai.
- International Kamishibai
Association of Japan introduces the Japanese picture card story form called kamishibai.
- Yamaneko Honyaku Club covers publishing
and children's books in Japan. In Japanese, with an English section being developed.
- Austral Ed is a book supplier
that specializes in supplying books to international schools in Asia, Europe and the Middle East and publishes a newsletter and
recommended book lists for particular topics such as Asia. If you publish a book in English that is set in Asia, send the
information to Kate Shephard on this site!
- The Asian Review of Books is
an online publication specializing in books published in Asia and international titles of interest to readers in Asia.
- Cynthia Leitich Smith has an
extensive section on children’s and YA literature resources.
- Debbi Michiko Florence has
interviews with children’s authors and recommended book lists.
- Achuka is a U.K. site that features
interviews with children’s authors and recommended children’s books.
- The International Children’s Digital Library
is a digital children’s library.
- Database of Award Winning Children’s Literature
is an extensive compilation of award-winning books from the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia and New Zealand with explanations of
awards available.
- The Children’s Book Council
(CBC) is the New York-based nonprofit trade association of publishers and packagers of trade books and
related materials for children and young adults.
- New York Public
Library has a list of 100 picture books everyone should know
- Kidlit.com is an informative site for
writers, readers and fans of children’s literature written by Mary Kole, associate agent at Andrea Brown Literary Agency
- SCBWI is the main site for the international organitation the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators of which SCBWI Tokyo is a chapter

The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators is the only international
organization to offer a variety of services to people who write, illustrate,
or share a vital interest in children’s literature.
The SCBWI acts as a network for the exchange of knowledge between writers,
illustrators, editors, publishers, agents, librarians, educators, booksellers
and others involved with literature for young people.
The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators Tokyo branch offers members
support, information, and education at a local level in mainland Japan.
